Presi's destiny jorney
It’s inspired by the period or transition that a woman in traditional India goes through, from being a single woman living at home with her parents to a married woman living with her husband's family. The word ‘presi’ in Hindi means fiancée.
This project began with my first trips to India, interviewing elder women, I realized how significant this period had been for them, which allowed me to imagine essential moments of their lives through their stories.
The project is loaded with symbolism, accompanied by phrases that I found on the trip, coming from songs or rituals or inscriptions on walls, trucks etc....
I wanted the images to be represented in a theatrical way as coming from a dream or imagination, instead of real situations, as they would always be influenced by my western vision.
Small format with lettering imitating Mughal period miniatures written in Urdu. Bound in a book with sari cloth, which is the traditional garment that defines married women.
